I gave my wife a S&W Sigma .380 about 8 years ago. We lived in Idaho where it was legal for all citazens to carry. She never did because she never felt the need.
When we decided to move to California we sold many of our guns. Well last year my wife was robbed at gun-point twice in one month at her flower shop. ...a flower shop for Christs sake. Both times it was about 2:00 in the afternoon. My wife is tough though, she actually told the first guy with a shotgun to "get the money yourself, I'm not even going to look at you" and opened the register. The second time(not but three weeks later) She actually told the little f#$%er she was sick of this sh!t and she was just robbed a few weeks back. I think I was more scared when she told me about it then she was during the incidents. I made her quit after that. I live right between the really nice part of town and a not so nice part so we get some scumbags rolling through the hood every once and a while. Anyway...The states that allow everone to carry are safer. I want her to carry a purse gun, we are looking into getting her a concealed weapons permit.
Another time my wife saw our neighbors house guest come out to start his car. He went back inside for a minute and this other guy runs across my driveway and lawn and jumps in to the Buick, slams it in reverse ond squeels out of there. My wife comes screaming into the garage yelling "I think the neighbors car just got stolen" I tell her to call 911 and I went next door. I nkocked on "Bonnies" door and an elderly gentleman answered the door. I said " I think someone stole your car" He siad " no its in the driveway, I was just out there" I told him that my wife saw some one get in it and drive off. He started walking out and aroung the bushes to see his car gone. The worst part about it was he was from Gulfport Mississippi and had lost everything in Katrina. He was a WWII Navy Veteran who also had just lost his sister. He was staying with his Niece(my nieghbor) until he could sort out the Katrina damage and now some scumbag stole the only thing he had left.
About two months later the cops found his car in San Diego. It ran but was pretty dinged up, and you know how old folks cherish thier buicks.
I firmly believe in arming yourself. Just dont be quick to pull it. If you can settle things with your fists then do that first
