I have good oil pressure and use 30 weight oil. The motor is a plane 3.0 with 136.000 miles on it. Should I be worring alot about this or should i plan on a rebuild soon? The sound of a main bearing is typically a deep dull knock with lower than normal oil pressure....*EB *Beats the he** outa me!....*LOL**... Re: main bearing chattering!!! Its not the mains, In cold weather you get a rattle for a second until oil pressure builds up. Can't tell where your from but in my parts its -30c and I use 5w30 for oil in the winter.
