Have any of you tried adjusting your valves cold? I know they are supposed to be adjusted while hot but it seems by the time i get to the end its just not hot anymore.

I set my drag a little to the heavy side. This has been visited recently; the difference isn't worth obsessing over.

I adjusted mine to .007 / .011 warm and they quieted down a fair bit. I'd be careful doing this though, don't want to burn ur vavle seats.

One thing i've heard (and this is speculation/hear-say, I haven't tried it out yet myself) is that if you over tighten your valve cover cap-nuts you can effectively loosen your adjustments.

It kind of makes sense because the studs are threaded into the rocker ass'y and when you tighten down against the valve cover (which pushes against the head) you're sucking those studs upward, thus pulling on the rocker ass'y.

The hole in that theory is the headbolts hold the rocker ass'y down, and those're torqued right in. So who knows. A tech at a Toyota dealer gave me this tidbit of info. I have yet to try it. Mine aren't that loud and it runs great so I'm not too worried. Rather not have oil all over my engine bay
