2" sounds like a better option!! Anyone know what is the largest tires I can put on my 88. I am guessing 31 x10.50??? even though i would like bigger ones. i have a lot of questions being new to this. Can anyone point me in the direction of what size tires are stock on this truck (mine are different sizes) and where I can calulate what gears i will need with new tires??? I tried the search on here, but it doesn't seem to work very well (or it could be user error)

31x10.50 will fit stock:

I just put a 4Crawler 1" body lift on my truck last weekend. It was very easy to do by myself. He really has a well thought out product.

I've been running the FL mud with 35s on a 3" body lift. I have 33's I swap over for street driving (swampers wear out quick on the highway). I had the trim the front fenders and pound them back flat. Also got a set of extended rear shackles to clear the back some more.
I've run a few different gear ratios (4.10, 4.56, 4.88, 5.29) and I like the 4.88s the best for my 33-35s.

A locker will get you much further than a bigger tire.

Thanks for the information, did you install the body lift yourself?? If so, was it a pain to install 3"?? Did you have to move a lot with the extra lift!!!

The body lift was on the truck when I got it. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/notooth.gif" alt="" />

I've helped a few other guys install body lifts on their trucks and it went pretty smooth each time.

Roll Me Over
I cleared 33's on 15x8's on this '86 with a 2" BL.

I hammered the inner body seam and the tires only rubbed a little(not enough to cause harm) when at full lock when turning into a driveway.

More than tread lightly. Leave it like you were never there, nor anyone else.
