Well It's been a while since I've visited the site.Since it was hacked or something like that? Got virus.Any way good to be back.My truck is still sitting after year & half ! Was logging all winter to busy to work on truck. Was going to put fresh 2.6 rebuilt long block & drive $2800.00 ? Well still thinking about the turbo 2.0L DOHC narrow block ..... but as U know I need a donor car,a tranny out of a 2wd.D50 2.0L 5spd.(km 132).Time!!& MONEY!! Was going to pull the motor out next week & take a look & see what happened in the bottom end? (had knocking coming from engine after over revving in neutrel 8000RPM) Compression still pretty good high 130's to low 140's, Oil pressure still good . Question though??? Could a guy put a rering kit & bearings in it & maybe the knock might be gone? The knock must be from a rod bearing... right or I'm I wrong? Thanks guys ! MIST U ALL All your thoughts & Ideas would be great!

If you have a rod bearing knock then the crank journal for the rod and the connecting rod itself are damaged. You will need to have the crankshaft reground and refurbish the connecting rod. Typically this means they will grind .010 to .020" off the crankshaft journals and cut the connecting rod and conn. rod cap then rebore the hole to factory size. Then you'll use undersize bearings for both main and rod bearings. Most machine shops will charge about 100 to 150 to regrind a 4 cyl. crankshaft. In an over rpm situation, probably be a good idea to refurb all of the connecting rods and get all new bolts/nuts for them as well. You never know if any other bolts have stretched. I thought I saw someone post a link to a shop that sold complete rebuilt longblocks for like 5-600 bucks...that may be the cheapest way to go.

It's been awhile, but the site was breached. The guys who manage the site busted their butts and had it fixed in no time.

Well sounds like no matter how U look at it, a long block or short block is the way to go . I would imagine the head should still be OK? I still like my truck . I guess after all the work a guy does on it, it becomes a part of you .
