Getting the Wheeling Fever
I've got a 2006 Rubicon and the guy at the 4x4 shop told me the diff lockers were air actuated. I was under the impression they were electronic. I think someone on this site said they were Eaton e-lockers. Anyone know what they are for sure?

Here is a trick I learned loooong ago...BEND DOWN AND LOOK!! If you see hoses it is AIR activated! If you see lectric wires it is lectric!! I know this will take some getting used too, But it will come naturally after a while.

Well Gee Big Jim, I didn't realize what a stupid question that was. I thought people on this site were a little more decent, respectful and knowledgeable. But then, you don't really know anything do ya? Pardon me all to hell for asking.

That is our "big" jim. Gotta love im.
I hate to tell you this, but this site IS the sugarcoated site, try asking the question on Pirate4x4.

Rubi uses an air locker (NOT made by arb)the rear axle unit is half geared limited slip half air locker. The front unit is an open diff till the locker is turned on.
They use a tiny compressor for each locker(2) that produces 5 psi. (An ARB uses 90 psi). The rubi locker has the accutator on the (all inside the diff cover) but outside the diff unit itself. So servicing needs to be done very carefully.
I personally think they are junk.

Jeep was too cheap to use ARBs.

Eaton has nothing to do with rubi lockers.

Is the new 2007 Rubicon different? It says pretty clearly on jeep.com that the locker are electric.

Standard on the Rubicon is the Tru-Lok(R) system. The electronic-locking front and rear differentials...

Surely that can't mean "electronic" as in the air compressor is powered with electricity. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cyclops.gif" alt="" />

Well that is a new one, but it can't be an Eaton.
Those are having nothing but problems, they make bad noises and don't always unlock.
Who knows what jeep has come up with now?
