I need some help getting the 80a fuse out of the engine compartment fuse box. I destroyed it trying to pull it out. Did some searching and apparently you have to push it through the bottom of the fuse box. I have the box off and am pushing whilst prodding the clip next to it. It's not budging. Is there a trick to getting it loose? Does just the fuse come out or does the holder for the the 80a and the diesel 60a come out too?

Your right, push out the bottom while squeezing clips. Once out you'll see screws that attach wire to fuse tabs. Can be difficult at times to push fuse out the bottom.

Bah...I finally got it off. I just needed a 5 minute break a a cold beer. For those that search and find this, you need to remove the battery (for working space), and fuse box (3 bolts). You then push the tab next to the 80a fuse AWAY from the fuse. I thought I was going to snap the tab I was pushing so hard, but it finally released the fuse and fuse holder. The holder for the 80a and 60a fuses comes out.

Hopefully Autozone will have a replacement

Hrmmm, you squeeze the clips? Perhaps I am blind, but I only saw one. I also pushed instead of squeezing. Perhaps that was why I felt like it was going to break. Im just glad the damn thing is out.

Does anyone know the specifications for the 3 fusebox bolts as well as the battery clamp bolt (size and length)? I seem to have misplaced them...it was one of those days. If not, I'll do a little trial and error with some off the truck.

Thanks!

Seems to me they're about the same size as the ones for your fender ground point right there, or your mount bolts for your starter resistor (the thing with fins on the fender).

Magnetic trays are about $5 at Harbor Freight.

Thanks...I'll start with those in the morning.

Magnetic trays...tell me about it. I actually have a couple. I thought it was going to be your normal fuse replacement and didnt bother to get one out. As a result, I put the screws on the bumper of my other 4Runner...which I drove to autozone to get the replacement fuse. I blame it on my wife. She left me at 6:00am in the morning for some class. As a result, the only food I had all day was a mini Jimmy Deans breakfast sandwich. Needless to say, my brain doesnt function well when Im on empty. Lesson learned...dont let the wife leave.

Only advise I have is that the battery terminal bolt be zinc coated. A normal bare metal bolt will disappear very fast from acid corrosion.

I remember that picture and that 4runner! It was on eBay a year or two ago. You must have bought it there or from someone who did. Where was it located when it was up for auction? -- Matt
