Getting the Wheeling Fever
Just wondering at what load do you all disengage the OD on the auto trans when pulling a trailer? I mean do you have it off all the time, even with an empty utility trailer, or what.
I have a 3.4 with auto, and it seems to shift back and forth too often even when the trailer is empty ( central texas) shllow grades.

Wheeler
I switch mine off as soon as it starts hunting. Even with heavy loads near the max, I'll be able to use OD on shallow grades and flats without issue.

Need a Spot
I have a 3.0 V6 and I lock mine out of O/D whether the trailer is empty or loaded, though once in a while on flats or gentle downslopes I'll sometimes bump it back into O/D, probably 90% of the time it's towing I have it locked out of O/D. I do the same on my 4Runner and Dodge Ram P/U as well.
