Getting the Wheeling Fever
|
Ok, here's the short story. I busted out my passenger door window the other day. For some reason after that happened the door would not open anymore. I took it to a glass shop and after about a hour they managed to jimmy the door open and replace the glass, but they also said they couldn't figure out why the door wouldn't open in the first place.
They shut the door (I was in a hurry and had to get to work)and its been jammed shut ever since. Now the problem is the door will not come open AT ALL. I tried messing with it for awhile, I took it to another shop and they played with it and couldn't get it open either.
Any ideas? Its kinda funny watching my freinds get in and out "dukes of hazzard" style but its getting old. Oh one more thing, the key just turns in the door with no resistance both ways and inside the door lock feels all gummed up.
Thanks! Nick

year of jeep would be nice. If it was me I would take off the inner panel to get a look at the locking mechanism. What does it look like like does it have broken parts missing parts or does it just need some lube. Tri-flow works great for these things.

Ok then take the seat out! That door ain't gonna get fixed without some effort. The door latch has a taper on the inside if you can get the propper prying tool in there from the inside you can leverage the door open...maybe. Big Jim

I'm having a similar problem. I have a 92 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4 door. I noticed my door joint was getting loose the past few months and never corrected it unfortunately. Now my driver side door won't open all together and I have to crawl in the passenger side. I tried juggling the key and opening from inside and out but nothing seems to work. Pushing the outer door handle button doesn't seem to have the same 'pressure' as before. I noticed before this happened the latch was getting banged up when I closed it as the loose hinge was creating a disparity in the door's elevation. Sounds confusing I know but just trying to paint the picture best I can with words. Please HELP!
