Need a Spot
Does anyone know what all the bulbs do in the corner light assembly on a 99 Trooper? There is one light that I cannot get to turn on. Next to the headlight, there is an upper and lower light; the upper light is an amber bulb in a clear lens--this is the parking/running light. Below that is a clear bulb in a clear lens. What is this for? The turn signal is next to these two lights, and the fog lights are well below on the bottom of the bumper. I have tried every combination of lights/high,low beam/signals/with,without fog lights, etc., and this bulb will not turn on. There is a fuse in the fusebox called "cornering lights," and I'm not sure if this is related. Could the bulb be some sort of daytime running lamp option?

The bulbs should burn when you have your headlights on and then use your turn signals.

It sounds like cornering lights to me, that is the light that comes on when the headlights are on and you put on the turn signal. They are supposed to light up dark corners.

If it won't come on and you know the bulb is good the contacts may be a bit corroded. Also check the fuse with a tester if possible.

One thing to note....

The turn signal lever has to be locked in to place before the lights will come on.
If you just pull up on the signal lever without locking
the lever, the lights won't come on.

Ahhhh, very nice.

I had one bulb out and I must have been checking that one when I did my earlier test, since I already knew the other bulb was good. Thanks for the help,

Tim_in_NC

PS...If anyone in NC is looking for an '86 Trooper, I have one listed on the "for sale" page.
