Need a Spot
Hey, I got my 96 T-100 in October and after reading about the bj spacer lift recently i decided to try it. I got the spacers in fairly easy but now i have some question; is it normal for the upper a-arms to be sitting on the upper bump stops after installing the spacers? Has anyone else had this issue and what are some possible ways to fix this?

-Eric

i dont know why they would...crank the torsion bars down until they have some clearance.

The spacers don't change the a-arm angle. They were probably that way before you started. My T was always pretty close (came that way from the factory) until I lowered the t-bars.

x3... Sounds like you had your t-bars cranked in at max before you put on the spacers. You should crank them down if your UCA is close to your upper bump stop... Net effect is you won't have any down travel from your front suspension - makes for a real rough ride & you're placing a lot of undue stress on your CV joints & boots by 'riding high'.

Fwiw, I keep mine about smack-dab in the middle - equal distance between the UCA & bumpstop vs. the LCA & bumpstop.

Alright I guess I will try that and see if it helps. But today i looked under the truck and it looks like i split a cv boot, i guess manual hubs will be in next in line to go on.

Downey, Total Chaos & a few others out there sell some upgraded CV boots that'll take a higher angle without fuss... Since you already have to R&R, might as well upgrade!

i used high angle boots on mine...found that the rubber was more brittle than the toyota or carquest factory style...went throug a boot in less than a year.

I remember one of them used neoprene... Makes me wonder how well it would hold up.
