Need a Spot
I borrowed my neighbors old school tach/dwell meter to set the RPM on my old 22R. it says to hook it to the negitive on the coil but I'm not real sure where that is, here's a pic of my coil, any help would be greatly appreciated !

The green connector on the lower left is empty, I tried hooking into that but it didn't seem to be it.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
On my 3.0 1989 toyota PU. i used the IG- teminal located near the engine diagmostics port by the fuse box under the hood on the passenger side.

Try that green one again, it should be it. Crimp a spade terminal on a short length of wire and jam it in to make sure there's good contact.

Yes, you definitely hook up to the small green connector, it can be kinda tricky hooking up to that. The other wire of the tachometer just hook up to the negative battery terminal

I agree with him. i put an auto-meter sport comp in my truck, and i used the tach hookup next to the diagnostic port on the passenger side of the truck. it looks like an older truck, so im not sure if it would have it. my friends 85 4runner is missing it, along with the diagnostic port.

That looks like an external voltage regulator in the pic, so he's probably got an 84 or older, which doesn't have the diagnostic port, just the check connector in green.

Thanks for all your help everyone, my truck is an 80 and probably doesn't have the diognostic port, turns out the empty green connector with the black wire is the one I needed, last night I checked the batteries in the tester and one was dead, fresh batteries seems to have done the trick.
