I'm asking $500 for the engine. That doesn't include the manifolds or distributer. Basically just the engine. It has had a new crank, bearings, and lifters installed. It is driveable right now. I haven't sold anything off of it yet.

I'd like more details if possible. Is there a good way to contact you?

Thanks for the responses, I didn't think they would come so quick..it's a 4 door, does that mean LWB?. I'm in SoCal, home of the expensive mechanic...but it looks as though $1350.00 will get a new engine installed. Still worth it?

I got mine in the exact same situation - turned out to be a blown head gasket. Wasn't too tough to fix but once I got it running everything else started to break. I love driving it but I doubt it will ever stop nickle-and-diming me. In my situation (with a full shop at my disposal) it's easy to drive it daily. If you aren't going to be doing any of the work yourself things will get expensive.

Yup, this is likely the most active mitsu 4x4 forum in N. America and possibly the world. Welcome.

Yes it does. LWB means long wheel base.

$1350 only? Definitely. What kind of warranty will they give with that install. Is it a used engine or also rebuilt? In N. Cal, it cost 1800+ for an upper end rebuild.

Sounds too cheap, what kind of engine?

I just want to tell you both good luck, and we're all counting on you.

The engine is $750, block and head w/ 6 mos. warranty, at C&T in Ontario,CA ....not sure if engine is rebuild or used, installer wants $600. no mention of his guarantee. I'm having a friend look at it tonight to try and figure if it's just the head gasket before i commit to the engine swap..

Get a compression tester with a quick connect hose, like an air hose quick connect. Remove the plugs. Screw the comp. tester hose into a plug hole. Apply compressor air, at about 40psi. Caution, the crank may rotate as the air forces the piston down. have the radiator cap open, and listen for air and look for bubbles in the radiator neck. There will also be leakage into the crankcase past the ring gaps. Have the oil fill cap off and listen for one cylinder that leaks worse (bad rings).

Any engine clatter, knocking or tapping when it runs?

Thanks for the help. There doesn't seem to be any clatter, or noise, in fact it sounds great..but I'll try the leak test you suggest and take a look...
