Getting the Wheeling Fever
Was wondering, I don't know exactly how the upper or lower oil cooler line comes off, my book doesnt show. ok, where the upper oil cooler line comes out of the oil filter bracket area, where the hard line turnes into the flex line(What kinda line is this?) about 2 inches up from the joint from where the hard line turns into the flex lines it is leaking, I cut back the rubber that was around it and it's leaking right from the middle of the flex line....I am wanting to know how the line is constructed to know if what I am thinking will work...because the oil cooler line isnt like a radiator hose type..here's what I want to do....disconnect the oil cooler line from the oil filter bracket(Or what ever it's connected to!) and slip a fuel line hose or whatever hose over the area it is leaking and clamp both sides,or since the hose is constructed different will it just force the leak to run down somewhere else, Also I need to know how the line comes off,I hope you guys are following me...Thx!!

You'd be better off disconnecting the two oil cooler lines and taking them to a hydraulic hose shop. They can cut off the hard connectors and re-crimp new hose to the fittings. There have been a couple of posts on this recently.

I posted about this recently. My lines were both leaking like crazy. I fixed them both for about $10 with some hose and clamps from NAPA. They've been bone dry for a while now. Do a search for the post.

cool, how did you remove the line from the oil filter bracket, is it the huge bolt? if you loosing that will it pull out? So, you probably just used some sort of line like fuel line or something with a couple of clamps and it did the job?..thx

and it took me a while to figure out where the leak was coming from since the line was covered in that rubber sleeve, I would have to put quart of oil in every few days and I drove just 25 miles a day!

Yep, it's the "huge bolt" that holds it on. You'll have to cut the crimps off each end and the hose slips over the barbed fitting. Make sure you go purchase a handful of those copper washers that fit on either side of the banjo fittings. You'll need to replace them ALL.

I made my own hoses like DirtyOldTown did, and in fact posted in the same thread he was pointing you to. I believe if you seach Sparkem's user name, you'll find it from a couple of weeks back.

While a little time consuming, it's not hard and I've had no leaks.

Well, I believe what I am going to do is just cut the hard line at the end on both sides and get some fuel line or something that has the same diameter and 2 clamps and be done with it.thx for all the help.....Coop

I used ATF cooler hose and FI clamps from NAPA. The hose was hard to put on the fittings (really tight fit) but it's a piece of cake otherwise.
