Most people disconnect it on the neg terminal. That's all I've ever done. I've never cooked a computer.

FWIW, I've never unplug anything when welding to my frame and have had no issues. Not saying you should do the same, just giving my experience.

As long as you aren't welding on the front end and clamping
the ground on the rear end.. it shouldn't hurt the computer.
Keep the ground clamp as close to your welding point as you
possibly can.

ALLSO NEVER EVER HOOK THE GROUND CLAMP TO THE ENG OR THE TRANS, EX,OR THE DRIVE LINE , AS STATED BEFORE WHERE EVER YOU ARE WELDING ON THE FRAME OR SOME OTHER PART MAKE CERTAIN THE GROUND CLAMP IS ON THE SAME PART THAT YOU ARE WELDING ON AS CLOSE TO THE WELD CONTACT AS YOU CAN GET, AND YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE A PROB, AS SOME MAKES OF THE ECM ARE VERY HARD TO GET TO ,IN ORDER TO DISCONNECT, JERRY
