Hey guys,

Anyone know of snorkels out there for the 2.7ltr 4cyl. I know that ARB does one for the 6cyl.(Could it be modified?) Or are there other options. I would prefer something premade for asthetics(OK call me lame I prefer to keep things looking good)Any help would be appreciated.

The ARB snorkel can be modified for the 4 cyl from what i've been told. When i did my snorkel, i decided that spending $300 for something i'd have to modify anyways was stupid so i just built my own. Looks just as good at 1/3 the price.

I see that you're adding this for aesthetics and just I wanted to add the clarification to this thread that the primary reason why anyone should add a snorkel to a Tacoma or 4Runner is for aesthetics - or maybe a "cold air intake". It isn't particularly function for deep water crossings since the door seals leak pretty bad in deep water and there's plenty of electronics at a fairly low level. I've seen it a couple times on different Toyotas.

I would disagree Jeff. I've forded creeks in my Tacoma with water halfway up the doors with my snorkel. Not a drop of water came into the cab. The electronics in the engine compartment are all up high and the ECU in the cab is located atop the transmission hump in the center of the dash. This is higher than the passenger kick panel location in the pickups.

I've seen numerous pickups on the other hand fill up with water after getting stuck in deep water holes and water crossings. My brother's pickup tipped over on the passenger side in a mud hole w/ the doors and windows closed and the cab filled with water. We unplugged the ECU, cleaned out all the connectors, and started it back up.

A snorkel for "aesthetic reasons" is pretty stupid in my opinion.

Actually,

I would only use it for asthetics and possibly cold air intake(I live in a desert). So it's interesting you mention that.
