Getting the Wheeling Fever
I'm looking at a used 2000 x-cab 4wd with 145k miles for $6900. Owner claims it to be in the great condition.

Are there any problems with the Tundras that I should know about? What are some areas on the truck that I should look at more closely?

For those of you that are towing your wheeler with your Tundra. How does it handle a heavy load, such as a full car trailer and full weight SAS'd 4Runner? What kind of fuel mileage are you getting? Did you have any problems with the trans, over heating, slipping? I know I'll have to beef up the rear springs to handle to extra load. I'll be towing a 91 4door SAS'd 4Runner.

Thanks

no problems with mine so far. haven't paid much attention to fuel mileage but it does handle nice. i too am planning on beefing up the rear of mine to handle the weight(starting to get the saggy butt syndrome). which isn't uncommon. but so far, i'm lovin it!!!

Make sure you've got good trailer brakes and brake controller! OOP's on here can recommend a good brake controller that he used with his Tundra. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

Getting the Wheeling Fever
It's a really good deal, the truck is very clean but I'd rather get a truck that is made for towing. I have a Tekonsha Primus brake controller on the way. I don't have a trailer yet but I'm going to get dual axle brakes on the trailer.

I'm moving to Yuma, Az in July and I'll be towing my 4Runner to the hammers, rubicon, moab, and all the other fun west coast wheeling spots. So I want something that I don't have to worry about. I had a 02 F350 psd and it would tow the 4Runner like it wasn't even there.

Thanks
