I discovered this forum after wondering what to do about my 4WD quitting in my '93 T100. I researched and found the main culprit was the Vacuum Switching Valves that actuate the front end axles. I was at a loss for a solution for about 5 weeks. (yes, it quit during a bad ice & snow period) I decided I would try to find some used VSV's, but it still bothered me. What if it goes out up the horrendous hollow where I deer hunt, or better yet, if it snows while I'm up there. I went as far as bidding for some valves on an auction site. Luckily I lost. The very next day I found this site and in less than a minute I had my answer. I got on the FAQs section and knew immediately what to do. The next day I won a pair of good used Aisin hubs and went to a Toyota parts Dept. for gaskets and seals and I was in business. This weekend I spent some quality time with "Truckie" as my little girls call it and I'm really happy with the outcome. No more worries up the holler! I tore down the hubs gave them a good workover, and installed them with NO snags thanks to you fellas. Same with my bypassing the ADD. Slick as a greased minner as we say. I got so wound up I kept on tinkering on several other projects and made a weekend out of it. I fell in love with my truck all over again!! Thanks again for the great info and for helping a total stranger in need. Tom

Hello again! Just thought I'd add a little more 4WD bliss. I noticed that my "hubcaps" that I took off the front had a round center area that was made to look similar to lockout hubs. I measured and guess what? It's the exact diameter of the Aisin hubs I installed. I took a jigsaw with a fine tooth blade and cut out the center area, filed a little clearance and PRESTO they fit like a glove over the new hubs and cover the flange bolts and they also match the rear caps. Did I mention it looks cool too? Icing on the cake!!!!
PS....I kept the "octopus" of hoses, wires and valves that I ripped out of my truck when I did away with the ADD. I just want to show my buddies how "smart" I am. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />

Update, I took my T100 on a trip this weekend, and it got better gas mileage than the previous times I checked mileage. Is this my bad math skills, or is it a common occurance after swapping over to manual hubs?

I was kind of disappointed after I switched to manuals in that I didn't see much of a difference in milage. At least there is less wear on the front assembly.

Well, It looks as though on my trip I got at least 1 more MPG. I know it's not much, but I'll take it. If I drove more sensible it may be more. I took it easy on my way back and it seemed to do better in gas mileage, but I didn't check it with math. I'll be able to tell more as I drive it back and forth to work. I've got that trip down to a science.
Thanks again, Tom
