Need a Spot
I just noticed that the battery of my truck is not secured down. I bought a battery hold down kit ( you know the two metal poles with the metal/rubber cross bar) but there is no place to hook the poles in. How does everyone else have their battery secured down??

I've got the stock stuff; jbar on the backside thru the top bar bolted to the core support. You'll see the nutplate.

I originally had those two pole hooks, you might have to drill a hole or two to use them and secure them with nuts/washers. I had that setup for about two years until I somehow lost one of the poles and my battery fell onto my fan ripping wires outa the fuse box all while on a trail

Long story short, I'm lazy and I have a bungee chord (make it very tight) and its worked fine in the short term.

see, nuthin wrong with a little bungee cord duct-tape action!

just kidin, i'm not that gung ho about the nascar fixes but i've had my yota in a lot of steep positions and taken it on a lot of bouncy trails and the TIGHT bungee keeps the battery anchored pretty well. at least, so far...

I have found the Optima batteries are a bit shorter than the wet cell batteries for my truck.
I countered this with a length of 1"x3/16" flat stock and 1" square tubing. I tack welded the flat stock to the tubing and drilled holes in each end of the stock. This utilizes the stock hardware and locations for mounting and the battery is more secure than using a bungee cord.
The new hold down bracket is stronger than the stock unit and doesn't look too bad either

Go stock Spaceman! Great & simple engineering (i.e.: see your local wrecking yard ).

I swapped mine with e AFM so now it's on teh exhaust side, had to fab something.
SO I have a tray bolted to teh fender, and a clamping strap that holds it in place. Bright rainbow colored, actually b/c it was on hand.
