Getting the Wheeling Fever
Looking through Road&Track?s Truck Buyer?s Guide 2007 I see Mitsubishi?s offerings, the Endeavor and Outlander are classified as "crossovers" as opposed to SUVs and have no low range. So does this mean the only offroad capable Mitsu offering for 2007 is a rebaged Dodge Dakota?

Yes this is correct. The States do not have the montero for 2007. The sales had fallen off drastically and for the short term the Montero has been cancelled.
It seems the truck based Monteros had always been strong in sales but when they went to the unibody they started declining. Mitsubishi is introducing a new Montero/ Pajero in Europe and down under. They are building the new Monteros for the city, not the real world now. Curious to see if we get one in a year or so. Personally I think it is the furthering on Mitsus head up the <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/butwiggle.gif" alt="" /> marketing program.
They should keep one truck based SUV available as the other companies have.

The same thing happened with Daihatsu. There were loads of diesel jeep Daihatsu 1600s sold here in the eighties then Rockys and now the only 4x4 offering is the New Terios with full time 4wd and no low range. It?s a car for weekends in the country.

Not quite!

The 2007 Pajero (Montero) is an evolution of the 2006 model.
The engine is new, but the "chassis" and drive-line are still the same.

Do you get Montero/Pajeros with a chassis? Some counties do. These are 2nd gen truck chassis based.
The new production Pajeros have not had a "chassis" since the introduction of the 3rd gen in 2000/01. There have also been no SWB 2 door Montis/ Pajeros in the 3rd gen.
This is the 4th gen, 2007.
pic did not work.
