Body Damage is Cool
After thinking about the different emission inspection requirements in different areas of the country I began to wonder how much insurance costs for Early Toyota Truck vary. Of course the age and driving record will have a big impact, but I'm hoping to find out if I'm getting a good deal.

I'll go first. My insurance comes as a package with my other insured car. I have full coverage on my '99 Nissan Maxima with a $1000 deductible. My '84 Toyota has liability only. I'm a male in my 40's with a clean driving record and no accidents or claims in the last 25 years. For both cars I'm paying $700/yr (I think they basically threw in liability coverage for the '84 Toyota for an extra $60/yr). I also insure a 1200cc sport bike, liability only, for $150/yr.

I lived in the Bay area in California when I was in my mid 30's (in the mid 1990's). <IIRC> I was paying around $2000/yr for liability only on the same Toyota that I still own. -- Matt

I think in Oklahoma I am paying for full coverage on my 82 150-200, along with my house insurance (don't look at that one), and a 1000 cc sportbike (around 400 a year).

Wow, that's expensive in AB!

With a 91 xcab, I'm 24 (6yrs liscence) in QC. With RBC, it costs me $31cad/month in a "big" city (Montreal). That about $370/yr for $1million liability only. No theft/collision.

I'm getting a 2nd vehicle tomorrow as well (96 jetta gl). It's only +$15/month! It's crazy cheap!

But I know it can be even cheaper if i actually shop around!

My '85 4Runner is the same as my Quad.
Both listed with American Family as "recreational vehicles".

I've got a beater 88 Turbo Supra I get raped on though.

Sounds like you got a clean record like me Matts. As a result, both my 1980 rigs are just liability, no comprehensive. $61 a truck for 6 months: I ain't complainin'!
Insurance is, after all, a bet: a bet you'll get in an accident and the price of the wager differs from company to company. Our state of California makes us wager and, knock on wood, I've never won a bet yet, ever!
Now see what ya did: you made me hex myself .

The key is lawyers. I had a couple tickets wiped off. For a 200 flat fee for each ticket it more than makes up for it in insurance premiums.

I pay around $8 bucks a month for my 88 truck.. Its $146 for 6 months of Liability only. $100 off that for the muli-car discount. So basically $46 bucks for per 6 months.

For the three vehicles I have, 2004 Subaru, 1992 Nissan 240sx, and 1986 Toy pickup, it's about $850/6mo.
Michigan is a no-fault policy state (they charge more)
Both cars have full coverage (I drive the 240 daily, between job sites too) truck is just liability.
My wife and I are just over 30, no accidents.
For comparison, if we lived in Indiana, cost would be about 1/2.

1986 Pickup extracab longbed "Woody edition"
SAS - 33's, 5.29's, lockright rear.

02 IS300 SportCross - my "DD"
94 2wd v6 extracab
04 Outback Wagon- wife's/family car
