Ok well let me start from the begining. I had to replace the head on my Jeep due to a crack that it had. The Jeep ran fine before I swaped the head with the exception of smoke out the exhaust. Now with the new head installed I'm having trouble with a backfire out the intake and no power what so ever. I initially thought timing so I checked and adjusted the timing and it has had no effect on the problem. Any help would be appreciated.
Jeep Specs: Straight 6 4.2L

You need to give a better discription of when ahd how it backfires... A constant front backfire indicates a burnt or open valve.. If you stopm pn it and it backfires it is a sign og a power valve not doing it's job. My first guess is you do not know how to set the timing! Vac disconnected? At idle? What is it set at? What year is the 4.2? Big Jim <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/pfft.gif" alt="" />
