Need a Spot
I recently broke my front axle on my 88 xj goin down a road to fast and hitin a ditch. anyway i had to replace the front axle and ended up gettin a d30 off a 99 tj with chromoly shafts a OX locker and rock krawler steering. I got it installed and everything but now sometimes when i go over a hard bump in the road it starts shakin real bad like the axles gonna fall off. any ideas on what causes that?
o, also when i installed it i had to weld on a new track bar mount cause the one that was on there was to far back. other than that, i dont think any of the frame mounts got messed up in the accident but i could be wrong, my steering also pulls to the right a little and is hard to make a sharp turn left, but i think thats just because the linkage needs to be shortend a 1/8 an inch or so, but the wobble never happend with the old axle. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Body Damage is Cool
Before looking at other causes for your wobble, I'd get that linkage squared away, and then check your toe-in adjustment. Then check for loose steering components.

The hard steering in one direction is definitely a problem. Get that fixed first.

I agree with Bob...check your alignment!!! I had the dreaded death wobble so bad that for a couple weeks I didn't want to drive on the parkway because whenever I hit a bump the "right" way the Jeep would shake so bad I would actually have to slow down to get her back under control.

I had an alignment done, changed my front shocks with the cheapest they make (Monroe gas-matics...17$ a piece, absolute garbage) and the wobble was completely gone.

Taint that just ironic....u use the cheapest shocks "crapy" and an aliment and the jeep drives great.

My thinking at the time was that the YJ will ride like crap no matter what I put under it...there's just no help for leaf-sprung suspension. My dad's '53 F-100 pickup has a better ride, and I'm not being sarcastic!!!
