Roll Me Over
It may be that a prior owner ran gear oil in the tranny. If so, that is not good news.

Was the tranny drained when you got it? If not, how did the lubricant smell?

It did have oil in it and I did make it a point to see if it had that distinct gear oil smell, but it actually had some fresh motor oil in it. I hope that it didnt have gear oil in it, I learned the hard way, but I really dont see this noise going away.

I called them and they said to give a week or two and the bearings should quiet down with time, and its common since it was sitting for awhile.

This is what we call a "blow off" and a "red flag". These guys are hoping that a) you go away and b) you get "used" to the noise and live with it until it is at least out of whatever warranty they offered.

If it is not right, take it back to them and demand one that is functional. Bearing noise does not come and go. It only shows up when there is a problem and the there is no way to put the metal back on the bearings once it is worn off. The MUA5 may not be a refined care transmission, but it should not have bearing noise.

Good Luck,
Michael

I honestly was thinking the same thing, I just wanted a second opinion from others with experience with these transmissions in the rare case that someone had a similar sitation. It has a 180 day warranty and I agree I need to yank this one out and send it back, I guess its good practice, should be able to knock it out pretty fast this time. Thanks for the help, I will update after I get done dealing with them.

Body Damage is Cool
Not really relevant now, but for the record, noise in neutral is a transmission problem, not a clutch, throwout bearing or pilot bearing problem.

Noise, if and only when you push the clutch pedal down, would be throwout or pilot bearing.
