Need a Spot
Hi

I am interested in front and rear diff lockers(Air Lockers) for my 2004 Isuzu trooper.(3.0 turbodiesel)

I understand that there is a setup for the front axle but there is a problem with the rear axle on the 2004 model?

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Is there a solution for the rear axle.

Any suggestion would be welcome.

Best Regards.

Gabriel.

Greetings, and Welcome! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Based on a few conversations that I've had with several Trooper owners, here's what I can tell you...

The later 2nd Gens were equipped with a modified 12-Bolt rear axle, and you are correct that there are fitment problems when attempting to install an ARB Locker into one of them.

The solution would be to install an earlier non-modified 12-Bolt axle -- something out of a 1996-97 (perhaps up to 1999 - not sure) *should* work perfectly...

However, I say "should" because I am not sure if there are any gearing (or perhaps other) differences with the oil-burner models, since we do not have those here in the US.

I hope this helps <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Six Isuzus, so far... still have three of them.

Hi Smiley
Thanks for the prompt reply.
If I am not mistaken then there is a matter of size diffrence between the two axles.
As I recollect the Isuzu guys had made the wheelbase a bit wider in the 98,99 models and on.
The story here in Israel is that the ARB dudes got pissed of at the Isuzu guys for not notifying them in advance about the size change in the axle and they did not seem to care about planning a new one <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
Please correct me if I am wrong.
Gabriel.

I can only answer that as it applies to the Trooper we got here in the States...
AFAIK, if it has wide fenders, it has the wider axle - and *here*, the wide fender models started showing-up in late 1995 (IIRC).

Anyone wanna double-check me on this?

Also, Joe (BigPoppa) has reported in this thread's counterpart, at The Planet, that there *is* an ARB Locker for the modified 12-Bolt -- I was totally unaware of this.

WRONG

we have set up several 1998 and later "mofified 12 bolt" rear diffs w/ the ARB airlocker.........NO ISSUE.

we used 1998-99 trooper rears w/ trak-lok LSD unit.

we can set one up and ship it to Isreal.

This is the best suggestion I've had in years.
Lets do this,I'll be the only guy in Israel with a rear ARB air locker on a trooper.
Please give me the details and we will proceed.
If this works I wiil hook you up with our forum members.
I am possitive that lots of other trooper owners will order from you.
Good luck to us all.
Gabbriel.
