Noise on acceleration
I recently purchased a 97 T-100 SR5 4wd. It has a noise I can't track down. As I accelerate from a stop there is a "Rattle" that sounds like a loose heat shield. I have checked all the one's I can see and all seem to be tight. I have also replaced the muffler. It increases with RPM. But it stops when I'm just cruising.
Any ideas will be welcome. TIA
Mark

Check the heat sheild(s) near the firewall. They frequently develop small cracks and make noise. The easy fix is a hose clamp around the shield.

Thanks,
I assume you mean the shield on the crossover pipe. I'll get a couple of clamps tomorrow and give it a try.

My '93 has done that for years and I just have lived with it. I might check it out now that I have a clue.

I put two clamps on the shield over the crossover pipe AND re-attached the hood to the frame per the FAQ. Not sure which did the trick, but noise is gone!

Thanks
