Bought an old army trailer to pull behind the Montero. My initial thought was a pintle hitch should bolt up to the factory plate on the bumper but trailer places around town think the bolt pattern won't line up. Will any pintle hitch bolt right up or is there a specific one?
On the trailer wiring the consensus seems to be to pull out a tail light and hookup the wiring from there. I sure hate to see the tail light pulled out- I'm thinking the gasket around the light assembly will fall to pieces. Any better location for the wiring? I'd sure like as clean a installation as possible.
Thanks,
Jim

There are larger pintle hooks out there, but the common smaller ones will bolt up. If they still argue with you, ask them to walk the part out to your truck and hold it up to it.

Edit: Tell them you want a Holland PH30, that's what my Montero has.
