Beautiful 2tone blue/silver with 180K miles.
Anyone know if the motor is more or less desirable than earlier years?
Butterfly valve a problem?
T Belt has just been replaced as has brakes and tires. Any major problems to look out for in this year other than the usual checks?
What years did Mitsu make Gen IIs with the squarish wheel well molding?
Thanks. Looking forward to upgrading my '91.

Ditto. You're asking about details for a particular year but you never mention the year.

What years did Mitsu make Gen IIs with the squarish wheel well molding? I think in 98 they did the non-clad fender flares. Anyone with a GEN II 1/2 want to speak up?....Russ?, Toasty?, Angelo?

It is a '99. Didn't know Gen IIs were made that late.

What are squarish wheel well moldings? Just givin ya a hard time. The Gen II.5 had the flares built into the body starting in 98 til 2000. The gear ratio in those are 4.27, plus some of the later year Gen II's.
There is a post recently about how someone on here hates the 3.5 motor. Granted, they are difficult to work on, but rarely need work if you maintain it. I love the motor compared to the 3.0, alot stronger, but some like the older 3.5 motor then the newer 3.5 motor. They are both great motors with a solid transmission (guess I should keep my mouth shut about that one, but that was my fault). With the right gears in them, they will last! More and more people on the wire, atleast the Mitsu guys are starting to trade/ add to their Mitsu line-up. They either have a Raider or and older Montero that is getting too old and they next buy is the SR. They are wonderful trucks and more and more people are starting to pimp them out with crazy mods!!!! Just check the records and the condition of the motor, tranny and such. Good luck!

If youre looking at a 99 the butterfly valves will not be a problem. Those valves were in the DOHC 3.5 available only in the 94-96 SR models.

It should also be a SOHC which will reduce potential problems.

Are we talking a 99 sport? I didn't know the 'fullsize' montys had a 'limited' edition.
