Getting the Wheeling Fever
I had the pleasure of pulling a fellow jeep out of some goop last saturday. My recovery strap got mud all over it, and I've read in this forum that getting mud on a recovery strap is the worst thing you can do to it (makes it weaker or something). Is there anything special I should do to get it really clean, or will a good rinse with water be enough?

Thanks.

Body Damage is Cool
My ARB straps say "rinse with clean water after use to remove dirt and sand, air dry before storage."

They also reccomend not storing them in direct sunlight or storing them wet.

I'd like to see someone use a strap in a situation where it didn't get dirty

Basically they say that for the same reason at rock climbing rope. Sand crystals get inside the protective covering, and as the strap moves, will start to cut the interior threads. Thats why you never step on a climbing rope, pushes the crud into it

So yeah, just wash it off and let it dry, and dont leave it in the sun because UV rays will start to break it down, the same way it does to a tent.

Just remember all straps eventually need to be retired for safteys sake.
