hey all, planning on doing a 1.5/2" suspension lift on the IFS next month, mine is feelin the miles and saggin on all 4 corners...ZUK style coils out back and BJ spacers with possibly the SAW torsion bars up front. no winch and when i get one ill have it set up for multi mount and keep it in the truck most of the time, would the SAW bars be too stiff, especially if i cranked them for another 1/2" lift?

also anyone used the poly bushings up front? its like 45 for a set for the control arms from perf products, im lookin at doing this too

finally, i need shocks, the rancho 5000's are beat and just aggravate the bone-jarring ride. i really dont do hard core off roading, truck sees mild to moderate trails, beach sand, occasional mud and the usual northeast winters. ive heard Monroe Sense-a-Trac's stand up pretty well for moderate off road use, any experience here? ill have to find out if they make them in a 2" longer travel version too

I'm running some Monroe Reflex shocks up front on my T100 and I like how they ride on and off road. I've only had them for a few months so I can't comment on how they hold up long term. I was running some Bilsteins, but these ride nicer (and they're a lot cheaper). I've run ranchos in the past and they ride pretty bad.

I wouldn't run the stiffer t-bars (or even crank the stockers) but that's just me.

Well I hate to sound like the hack idiot on this post <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />, but prior to the solid axle swap I managed to fit (quite comfortably) 35" tires on stock front IFS and a one inch body lift. I think I had cranked 3 1/2- 4 inches out of the stock t-bars. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" /> I don't think I'd ever recommend it, but I never had any problems other than a stiffish ride and I wheeled the snot out of that IFS. The only think that went bad was ONE cv boot while going over Wolf Creek in the snow and that's after about two and a half years of being cranked. Again I wouldn't recommend that much to anyone except maybe my worst enemy. But it just goes to show that it probably isn't going to hurt to do a half inch.

1/2" isn't bad, but he's saying in addition to the 1.5" the BJ spacers will have already lifted him. CV and steering angles just get worse and worse...

And there's no way you cranked 3.5-4" out of your stock IFS unless it was severely sagged out to start with (which is not usually the case unless you've got a LOT of extra weight up front). <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/notooth.gif" alt="" /> The IFS only has about 5.5" of total travel in stock form.

But I do agree that you can fit 33-35" tires with minimal lift if you do some fender/firewall hammering.

Gotcha. That may be on the extreme side of things. Would advise on drop bracket lift but that's just more money...<img src="/forums/images/graemlins/barf.gif" alt="" />

I kid you not. I had NO down travel and for some reason (possibly having to do with being airborne for a second or two in my younger more irresponsible days) My upper bump stops were sheared off the frame from harsh landings not designed for that poor poor truck. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Also I heard Deutchtech shocks are a good buy for a good price.

anyone ever do a coilover setup to replace the t-bars on these trucks? seems to be a great idea to me...a shock hoop to mount em higher and some control arm trimming would probably get em in, wouldnt it? t-bars have a stiff ride by design, and imho theres no reason IFS shouldnt be coilover. Summit offers some universal coilover shocks, seems like the hard part would be checking travel distances, and possibly building a custom shock hoop, fabrication doesnt scare me. anyways, if anyone has done this/ heard of this being done id appreciate any input. or if im way off base tell me to shutup <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/zombie.gif" alt="" />

my basic goals are to get around 2" out of the suspension, while increasing the travel some and making the ride tolerable, i.e. soft without destroying the on road handling(which is judged by my wife when she rides in the truck) <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" />

ok, after some research i see that coilovers look like theyd be more trouble than they're worth...lower a arm isnt stout enough, and it really wouldnt improve the ride any. my only concern with the stock t-bars is the front sags too, im wondering if theyre at their wear limit and i should replace them is all.
