Hey Guys.
A couple months ago, I jumped in my truck, started it, turned on the headlights and took off down the road. about two seconds into that trip the lights on the right half of my gauge cluster went out, everything else was fine. So now, i cant see how much gas I have at night. I wasnt so concerned at the time as i was in a hurry to get condoms and thus had other things on my mind. :-p
Anyway, Is it a serious pain in the arse to figure out if its just a bulb and/or replace it? Its a 92 4x4 pickup, the gauge cluster without the tach.
I searched the forums, but all the gauge stuff i could find pertained to putting in pretty new ones.

search in fsm under electrical for troubleshooting procedure with a MMC sticking in the harness connections to figure out your trouble.

For sure check the bulbs. There is only one bulb for each side of the gauge cluster. (Except for the brake light, check engine light, etc.) I like LEDS. Check out www.superbrightleds.com/mini-wedge.html. I changed my whole cluster over to LEDS and they rock. You can use any color you want too. You'll need the T3 1/4 mini-wedge.

Thanks. I managed to find a '93 FSM, figured itd be close enough, pretty sure its the bulb after looking at it. Now ive just gotta find a weekend and the will to take the damn dash apart and throw in some new bulbs!
man, those FSM's are gold mines, too.

Now ive just gotta find a weekend and the will to take the damn dash apart and throw in some new bulbs! it's not bad at all. i can swap instrument clusters in less than 10 minutes. the hardest part is connecting the speedo cable back up, but it's easy when you disconnect it from the firewall to give yourself some extra slack.

I have to do the same thing but my left side is out. I think I want to try a different color.

To make it easier unhook to speedo cable from the firewall clip to give you more slack to play with the disconnection-connection of the speedo cable-cluster (while you hand is jam in there...).

I have to do the same thing but my left side is out. I think I want to try a different color. I'm telling ya. Those super bright leds are awesome. I put blue ones in my dash and it turned out pretty cool. I also swapped out the brake light, check engine light, etc. with white leds. They're only a little bit dimmer, but never have to replace and I'm cool with that.

I went with red in my cluster. I like it for night driving, easy on the eyes and doesn't mess up night vision although the "red line" is just more red now Made my turn signal indicators purple! each to their own on color. Very easy change out.
