Need a Spot
Hi I hope one of you guys can help me.

My 1994 Toyota 4x4 pick-up with a 6cyl. 3.0 engine started sputtering twice as I would take off and then when I came to a stop and took off again it just dead. I turned it on again and drove for about 2 blocks then dead.

I thought is was the fuel filter so I changed it but nothing. I also checked the fuel pump and it is working alright so it is not that.

When I turn the key the engine turns but it doesn't turn on.

Any suggestions?

Thank You,

JB

I assume when you removed the fuel filter you cranked the motor and saw fuel spraying, correct?

Next step is to check for spark.

Get a 12v test light, ground it, and put it on the positive terminal on your coil. Crank the motor. Does it flash? If so, then your igniter is working. If not, either your igniter is bad or its not getting power.

Put a spark tester on the spark plug to see if your getting spark to the plug. If no spark at the plug, could be in the distributor. If your getting spark at the plugs, its probably fuel related. Injectors might not be firing.

An easy way to see if its fuel related is to get a can of starting fluid, and spray it in the throttle body and see if it fires. If so, then you know its not getting fuel.

Yes I replaced the fuel filter and there is plently of squirt from the fuel pump.

I am going to try what you suggested right now. Off I go to rig me a light.

Thanks
