Need a Spot
I am having a heck of a time finding a 4D55 cylinder head for my 1983 mitsubishi 4x4 diesel truck. She's a great truck... can't wait to drive her again! The injectors got changed in '84 from 24mm to 18mm... If I find an '84 or '85 head I will have to find some 18mm injectors to go with it. Help! Help!

Local dealers and used stuff will likely be scarce for you. Have you tried searching Australia sites or other countries where the Mits diesel was more common?

ok here is the info i got from them about a year ago

http://www.allengineparts.com.au/Default.asp?p=1

4D55T NEW BARE CYLINDER HEAD AUD$600.00
VRS GASKET SET AUD$60.00
FREIGHT TO USA - AIR 7 to 10 DAYS AUD$275.00
ECONOMY 2 to 3 WEEKS AUD$235.00
CHECK IF INJECTORS THAT SCREW INTO HEAD ARE 20mm or 24mm
REGARDS PETER

I recommend just getting the headgasket from the dealer thats what i did.

I'd just get a cylinder head for a 4d56t and throw that on there for some better performance. I heard they fit with no mods.

Hi I have two 4d55 engines one has a good head. I was going to make one good engine out of the two but may consider parting them out. What would you be willing to pay for a head. I have a complete ranger which the engines came out of. Anyone need any parts?

mitzuman, where are you located, what year is the Ranger, and would you be interested in selling the whole truck? Thanks and I appreciate your reply.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
you can still order the 83 head new from mitsubishi. www.norcomitsubishi.com head MD060481 $948.00
Gasket kit MD997023.

I'm sure you don't want to spend that much but at least it is not some used junk. I have bought used 4d56 stuff. Most of it is worn out. Spun bearings, lack of clean oil bad heads etc. If you want I would sell you a Rebuilt head for a 84-85 model with the 18mm injectors complete with a nice cam for $750. i REBUILD THEM MYSELF. Thats ground valves, new stem seals, rebuild injectors. I check them for internal cracks etc.
