For those of you that have drilled out the hinge for ease of removing/swapping doors, what style of pin are you using? How is it holding up?
The reason I ask..I drilled them out 2 years ago for my half doors. I used a 3" 3/8" bolt, just cut off the threads and tapered the smooth part of the bolt. This has worked fine, however I have noticed that my doors don't have a good feel. They feel sloppy, and when closed I can hear the clanking of the hinge.
So I am trying to find if maybe putting in a new clevis pin, or using a threaded bolt with a nut to help tighten up the sloop in the door would help.
Anyone have the same problem and been able to fix it?

I would say to go with a greasable bolt and nut on the end, Probably a thread lock nut. I am interested in this article though if others pop up, I am thinking of doing this as well

I am interested in doing this as well...how do you guys handle the electrical? Are there connectors in the door than can just be unplugged and pulled out of the door?

Ask Paddler how he handled it Actualy it is really easy, all the wiring for the door is unified in a 'clip" (for some reason the word escapes me) right inside the body...you just pull out the rubber cover, and you will find the connector, unplug and you are good to go. My concern with a nut and bolt combo is the threads having a hard time going into the holes, and not binding. I always thought it would keep binding, or damage the threads altogether.

Cool, thanks. Wish I could do this for Moab, but I doubt I will have time.

Having done it with a clevis pin set up I would not recommend it. It's just as easy unbolting it at the hinge to door connection and rebolting. You have a hole lot less slop and less leaks when you put the full door back on.
What electrical connector?

I used detent pins for years, but got sick of needing a hammer and screwdriver to shove them out. Swapped to normal straight clevis pins and never looked back. If you're worried about it falling out you can put a hitch pin through one of the holes, but I've never had a problem with it.
