Does anyone know what it's gonna take to swap in a fuel injected Toyota V-6 in place of my fuel injected 22R-E four banger? Will the stock tranny work with it? What about the computer and all the wiring? I have 1990 Toyota 4Runner 4X4 with the 22RE four cylinder with a 5-speed manual tranny. It just doesn't have the pulling power that I need. Is there any other options? I can't pull my atv over a steep bridge any faster than 40mph. On level ground it pulls just fine but I'm scared that I'm going to get run over on the bridge. Other than the pulling power, I love the truck.

This link above is mainly for the 3.0 to 3.4 swap. Just to get an idea. Call them they may be able to guide you. If you are going to swap I would go straight to 3.4 don't waste time and money with 3.0.

To answer your question specifically, NO, a V6 will not bolt up to your truck, transmission, or your wiring harness.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
You might look at Downey Offroad because the offer adapter kits to mount other engines in to 4Runners.

Thanks for all the replys. Is there anything else that I can do to bump up towing power and grunt that this truck has with the existing motor?

Take a gander at http://www.engnbldr.com/ ... He has everything you need to make your 105 hp 22RE into a 140 hp 22RE. Get the 261*c cam for a lot more bottom-end grunt, the 268* for mid-range power, and the 270* for the high speed Runner!

You've got oversized tires on that truck. REGEAR. Your cheapest avenue.

x 2 on what Adam said.
