Dad wants the A/C reinstalled on the pickup. He removed everything since it was "in his way" and it leaked really bad. He still has all the parts but from what I remember, the ?drier? must be replaced due to air getting in there. Some one at his work said he'd pressure test everything to make sure nothing leaks.

Question is: What has to be replaced and what can be reused?

I was just reading about this on the forums over on ackits.com. They say to replace the drier always, and for a conversion to R134 (not sure if that applies to you) that you need to add a high pressure cutoff if not already equipped with one. I assume that as long as the evaporator and condenser don't leak, then you can reuse.

Driers run about $15 - $30. You can get a condenser coil, the cooler looking thing out front of the radiator, for about $125. As old as this one is I'd replace the o-rings in the whole system as well, several of which are in the evaporator housing under the dash (behind the glovebox). If your compressor and your hoses are still good you might be able to get a R-12 licensed shop to leak test it and if it passes, recharge it with R-12. -- Matt
