Well I am still thinking about the file marks! One little scratch mark can cause a coolant leak right where you are asking about.
I have reinstalled numerous warped heads back on engines of all types. I am sure the head is pulled back straight when the bolts are torqued. Yes it is nice to install one you KNOW is straight but it has never been a problem for me...yet.

On May 3rd I will pull the head and send it out to be tested by professionals. If it comes back perfect and water still gets it the oil, I will trade it in for a newer one. How does that sound? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/nana.gif" alt="" />

Still has to be a jeep though. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/patriot.gif" alt="" />

When the head comes off look at the coolant level in the block.. Or if you have drained the coolant get a hose and fill the coolant passages to the top of the block... let her sit over night and see if any drained into the pan..
Might save you some machinest charges.
