I've notice what appears to be a leak at the area of the head gasket. Not sure if thats exactly where its coming from but my question is this; what symptoms would I see if it were the head gasket? Would any leaks be combined with oil and antifreeze? And it may even be a leaking thermostat, although a couple of times I noticed a small puddle of coolant on my driveway. Any advice is appreciated. BTW its a C223T engine.

THESE ENGS ARE KNOWN FOR LEAKING HEAD GSKTS,, THE MOST COMMON PLACE IS THE THERMOSTAT HOUSING WHERE IT BOLTS TO THE HEAD OR THE SMALL BYPASS HOSE ON THAT HOUSING TO THE WATER PUMP, IF IT LEAKS HERE IT WILL RUN ALONG THE DGE OF THE HEAD TO BLOCK SURFACE AND MAY LEAK AT THE BACK OF THE ENG , OR IT COULD BE ONE OF ABOUT 6 HTR TYPE HOSES ON THE ENG JERRY

OK Jerry thanks. The mechanic I'm bringing it to tomorrow says he can pressure test it to find the leak, and if that doesnt work he will run a die through the engine. He thinks maybe its the head that may need shaving or maybe just re-torqueing. The shaving part sounds expensive. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

HOPE HE HAS THE RIGHT TOOLS TO SHAVE THE HEAD , IT HAS TO BE GROUND , USUALLY WHEN THEY TRY AND USE A MILL TO CUT THE HEAD ,THEY RUN INTO THE HOT PLUGS AND IT BREAKS THE CUTTING TOOL, THOSE THINGS ARE SO HARD , THEY ARE SUPPOSSED TO BE GROUND ,, JERRY
