Getting the Wheeling Fever
I was driving my truck; after I parked it for a few minutes and tried to start it and it stared for just a second and now wonÆt start at all<img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
I check the engine and everything looked ok, then I found a blown fuse in the eng. compartment, the fuse cover says is for [ACG-S] any body knows what that is?

Finally I pulled my truck down to the local Shucks and the OBD diagnostic gave me this code ôP1290ö

Any Ideas?

Thanks
Sal

I suspect that the code may have set when whatever caused the fuse to blow occured. Have you replaced the fuse yet? I think the "ags" just stands for the fuse type, and usually is followed by the amp rating. One guys opinion.

Yes, I did replace the fuse, that was the first thing I fix... and every time I try to start it... nothing happened to the new fuse.

I check on line on many web-sites for OBD-II codes and none had this specific code for Isuzus...there was one site that had the mining of this code but it was for GM's...are 3.2L related to GM's?

Thanks for your reply

Sal

Does it make any sound at all??? If not try tapping the starter. I know it's a long shot but a friend of mine just went through a similar experience with his yota. Thought it was a fuse or a battery and it turned out to be just a coincidence that the battery died and he blew the ignition fuse. After buggering around with his rig at 4 in the morning for an hour and a half, we finally figured it out.

Check here for OBD2 codes:
http://autorepair.about.com/cs/troubleshooting/l/bl_obd_main.htm

Try disconnecting the battery for a couple minutes, should clear any codes, of course you will loose your radio presets.

'94, and '00 Amigos and '00, 01 Rodeos. Rodeo springs and aftermarket 'hard top on 94. Aisin hubs OME 919's on the 2000 Amigo. 2000 and 2001 Rodeos have OME 912's and Aisin. Smoother ride with the OME 919's???

Body Damage is Cool
If you have a fuel line pressure tester, you can test the pressure at the fuel rail (under the plastic plenum cover on the driver side of the engine, IIRC).

Otherwise, I would take the few $$s and few minutes of time to replace the fuel filter back by the tank. The 3.2's will NOT start if there is inadequate fuel pressure getting to the rails...

Thanks for your repliesà.

I got a felling it has something to do with fuel. I check some codes in many sites and this is what I found.

CODE - MAKE - DESCRIPTION
P1290 - GM - Electronic Throttle Control Forced Idle Mode
P1290 - CRYSLER - CNG Fuel Pressure Too High
P1290 - FORD - CHT Sensor Low Input

Still canÆt find anything that specifies about Isuzu.

I donÆt have a fuel line pressure testerà so I will try to change the fuel filter since it has never been change as far as I know.

Thanks all you guys for your info.

Per this link over at PlanetIsuzoo, p1290 is "ETC Forced Idle Mode"
