All -

I realize this isn't the most critical element for wheeling (just in the top 20 <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> )however...
I recently acquired the OEM sub woofer and wiring for my 2004 Rodeo without any instructions, of course. Most of it is pretty straight forward but I'm not sure where to hook up the 12v ignition wire. In the harness that came with it kit there is a wire that is just for power to the amplifier but it is not long enough to stretch from the cargo area up to the fuse box. In fact, it seems like just long enough to reach something in the cargo area. Does anyone know where this 2-wire part of the harness, which terminates in both a male and female blade-type connector might go to?

Thanks!

It sounds like it's meant to plug inline with the power outlet in the cargo area.

I agree pull the jack out and there is a plug tapped to the side.
Might be what your looking for.

Unfortunately mine doesn't appeared to be wired for it. I pulled off the panel and the only wire taped up there is for the trailer wiring.

I don't have any pics yet, but it installs in the cargo area on the passenger side where the storage bin is. Isuzu no longer makes them. The were either gray or tan to match the interior. I have an extra tan one that I scored off of ebay. I bought it because they are so rare I thought I would just paint it to match my gray interior. Then, a week later a gray one went on sale. Go figure. It is complete with amplifier and wiring harness. Originally they sold for about $400.

Thanks for the info. I tried Googling for one, and found this:

Subwoofer & Kit

Looks like the subwoofer, harness and amp combo is $260. KInda $$, but I like the fact it's integrated/discrete. My interior is also grey, not beige tho'.

I finally got around to trying this. As mentioned in another post I don't have an outlet in the cargo area so I ran a wire from the accessory outlet fuse to the power connectors for the amp. I made a BIG MISTAKE somewhere. When I turned on the ignition it melted the wire I ran and nearly set the Rodeo on fire. I saw the smoldering and shut it down immediately but what a sticky mess. No other wiring was damaged (and I inspected carefully). It also didn't blow the fuse I had it attached to. I have no idea at this point what the problem was. Any ideas? I ran a ground wire to an existing Isuzu ground. I used a wire that should have been heavy enough (and that I have used for other projects with no problem). I clearly overlooked something but what?

Thanks!

Amp may have a short.

Try powering the amp externally (out of the vehicle) with no input and a small (5?) amp fast blow fuse. If it blows, there's some sort of problem.

Then try hooking it up to stereo input (speaker wire) and see what happens when it draws amplification power.

Just a guess, I'm not a stereo guy, but I (usually)know a short when I smell one.

[color:"white"]? 04 Rodeo DI ?[/color] 75k mi, body damage on the 1st weekend I got it.
