My Rodeo is in for service (see sig for rig specs). The mechanic found that my clutch plates are bad and to get my LSD back to working condition it will cost me about $450 (parts and labor).

First question, Is this part of the "drivetrain warrenty"? 10 years/ 120 miles. Im still within that range.

Second question, assuming Im not going to be doing any work myself and would have to pay a high price shop/dealer to do any work.. should I repair or opt for an upgrade to a full locker?

I have a off-road trip that Im trying to make this weekend. So something needs to be decided fast.

FYI: The Rodeo has a rear Dana 44 and the limited slip is stock. The rig is used 50% on-road and 50% off-road. I like to off-road in all types of terrain, but mostly rock crawling.

Just installed one into a Rodeo, and have had it in the Amigo for years. No worries, easy to do and save on the price the mechanic quoted. part from Indy4x is ~$430 give or take.

i'd go for the auburn gear ected, that is a LSD and locker in one, and it replaces the carrier. its about 650 i think, theres a thread on planetisuzoo for it

You don't need the LSD working for Pismo. If it's working fine other than the the plates i would just wait until after the trip.

So it seems Im going to hit Pismo this weekend w/ an open rear diff and take my time to research my options.

If this information is accurate, there is no question that you would greatly benefit from a locker over the LSD.

My Daily drivers are my bikes (Yamaha R1 & Honda VTR1000). I've gone a couple of weeks at a time several times without moving the Rodeo.

If you really want a LSD, some people practically give them away after installing an ARB. I just gave mine to Matt Brown after I had the ARB install and I think he sold it on eBay. If you can afford it, a selectable locker like an ARB is really great, and the rear install is easy compared to the front.

I tried a search on lockers and their effect of daily driving but didn't get my questions answered.

As I thought about the true use of my Rodeo, it is still 50% on and 50% off -road. BUT I do use it for long road trips every now and then. Im planning a trip to TX to visit my sister which is over 3k mi round-trip.

My questions:

1. Does a locker effect gas mileage?

2. Does it wear down and need to be rebuilt often?

3. Will it casue stress/damage to other drivetrain parts on long road-trips?

4. Given this new bit of info (long trips) what advise do you have?

1) What is gas mileage? These are for play, not for gas mileage, you want gas mileage, buy a Metro. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/evil.gif" alt="" />

2) Several years of use from CP, and many more years of abuse from me, and same locker, havent thought anything about it, been 6 years give or take.

3) Havent noticed anything adverse.

4) No worries, put in the no Slip and call it good. best bang for the buck out there, and you can do it yourself in an afternoon with minimal experience and utilizing hand tools. I drive mine to/from every trail and back and forth to Moab (700 mile round trip). Cant say anything detrimental about it.
