so the girlfriend has a 86 x-cab sr5. her driver side window would roll down but it would not roll up all of a sudden one day. so i pull the switch cluster out of the door, noticing it has been rigged once already, and i determined the switch was bad and just jumped the motor to get it to roll up.
now for the question....is there a way to take the electric crank out and make it a hand crank on the window's with out just finding door's with manual locks and windows?
that and the key she got with the truck works in the ignition, which is a given with those ignitions, but the key does not work in the door lock. so if any body has door locks and the matching key for a 2nd gen send me a message.

Sure. The basic mechanism is the same, the factory merely replaced the hand winder and spring with a motor.

Easiest way is to go to a junkyard and remove the winder assembly. Bolt in swap.

Don't forget the door panel. You're going to have to punch a hole in the existing one, or pull one from a junkyard.

Why not simply fix/replace the electric switch?

would it be easier to just swap out the doors?

I was thinking I want to go back to having the manual myself (and the beloved wing window for instant blast of air...and bugs). Would have more room too for bigger speakers in the door panel.

I just swapped out the rigged powered window regulators for manual windows in my 86. It is very easy to do, just pull out the electric regulators and bolt in the hand crank regulators, but you will have to do something about the door panels. I was able to find the passenger side with no problems at the boneyard, but the driver side was very hard to find at the boneyard. I'm not sure how much a new regulator would be.

It is usually possible to repair the switch:

You can have power windows and the vent window. The basic winder mechanism is the same for both types, just a single bar added to the wide window units.

yes i know how to fix the switch, it is a simple contact problem just like you had on your pass switch 4crawler. The only reason i was curious about the swap was because i really just didnt want to have to fix the thing every time she pushes to hard or slams her door hard, not to mention the various small leaks around the cab, mixed with her trying to keep up with my truck on the dunes or out in the woods.
