Getting the Wheeling Fever
I tested the clutch in my '88 22re pickup by trying to start off in 5th gear and instead of stalling she just spun and reved up. And it tends to spin under hard acceleration anyway and it is the orig. Freeplay is perfect. So, new clutch?... What are some good clutch kits out there? Should i just bite the bullet and go toyota? Dont wonna cheap out here, as buying a cheap clutch kit is not good. Should i consider replacing the slave cyl as well? (already has new-ish master cyl) Thanks.

For aftermarket, Luk clutches are decent, Marlin Crawler's Heavy Duty clutch kits are supposed to be very good. I run a Centerforce Dual Friction clutch and it is still going strong after 9 years. Can't hurt to change out the slave, although my '85 slave is likely the original (I carry a spare one). Also change throwout and pilot bearings.

I've got 30k on my Luk pro gold and I'm very happy with it. It's take a few beatings--couple of offroad trips and towing some stuff including my Supra and has held up well.

What kind of centerforce clutch are you using? My clutch is stock and is showing the first signs of slipping. Ive been debating on getting either a stageII or a dual friction cenetrforce clutch . Also thought about LC's HD clutch kit, but im leaning more towards the dual friction clutch. My truck is a daily driver but also does some 4 wheelin on the weekends. 4 crawler, is your dual friction clutch pretty well suited for daily driving also?

Been running a CF I for over ten years and it has been beat on. Still working great.

Make sure to have your flywheel re-surfaced, even if it looks fine, re-surface it.

Sorry to hijack you but what are the diffrent from master cylinder and slave cylinder? are they both the same? I ask because the guy that I bought the 5 speed transmission only give me the cylinder that is next to the brake cylinder, so is that the master cyl or what? Im new to this stuff, get me confusion. So where can I locate the master cyl and slave cyl at? I have the 3vze.

MC is the one on the firewall, slave cylinder is the one on the bellhousing.
