tranny input shaft question

Getting the Wheeling Fever

The transmission in question is a W56-B out of my '87 4Runner.

Is there supposed to be any play with the input shaft at all? I have my tranny out for a clutch change, and I noticed it has some play in it. I'm able to move it in and out a bit, and up and down a bit.

Also, noticed a bit of fluid leaking from the end of the shaft. I'm guessing the input shaft seal is shot?
