I did some test fitting today after work. It looks like a real nice fit. I think I can utilize the factory motor mount pads on the frame. I can probably adapt a set of stock 4.3 motor mounts to work but I question the reliability of them. Every set I've ever pulled off have been broken.

A few issuses I will have to deal with are the fuel and brake lines running down the frame rail. I will probably move them to the outside of the frame for safe clearance of the exhuast. It looks like I can use the stock manifolds for now. I will eventually upgrade to headers when money permits. The only other challenge I see right now with fitment is my power steering lines will have to make a loop straight up and back down to the box because the pump sits directly over the box. I may still install a scout box If I can figure out which one I need. I've got about 1 1/2" of clearance above the tranny and about 2" at the distributor. I will have to cut the core support some to clear the radiator and Taurus fan I will be running. I'm thinking about runnig a corvette radiator and a s10 shroud. It should keep things nice and cool even on really hot days. I've got a Taurus fan on my '90 s10 DD behind the stock shroud and it never gets above 195*

Got a lot done today. I worked on my harness and got everything figured out (I think) and fitted some motor mounts I got from a 85 bb Chevy. They are going to work real nice. I welded on new mounting plates to the frame and before I pulled the motor back out and change all the gaskets and painted it. I still don't know what I'm doing for a t-case but I'm really leaning toward the np208. I just wish there were some good mods I could do to it to make it a little better like gears and SYE.

I hope to have the engine back in this week. I still need to finish grinding the rest of the IFS junk before I drop the motor back in.

Looks great, you've really made some progress since I last checked. Thanks for all the (good quality) pictures, It really helps me visualize everthing for my swap. Keep 'em coming, and good luck.
BTW, I'm now going with a Dana 300/T700r4 setup. Tim.

does anyone know if the np208 adapter is the same 6bolt pattern as the dana300? They sure look an awful lot alike. It seems like I heard that you can use a 208 adapter to mate a d300 with a little modification. I just can't justify spending $500 on a little adapter. That is more than I bought a whole running drive train for . I really don't want to run the np208, but unless I can find another cheaper alternative I'm gonna hae to go that way.
I know antoher expensive option is a toyota case which I would like that too but it's $600

Andre, (starchild) did it.

I think one bolt wouldn't work, so it ended up being a 5 bolt adapter. Other than a o-ring seal I don't think he's had any issues with it. He tried to seal it with RTV and it wasn't working, once he put the o-ring seal in place he's not had any issues.

I'll ask him to pop in here and give you some direction.

Joe

Like Joe said, the 208 adapter works fine with the D300. You will need to replace the D300 input shaft with a 27 spline one to mate to the 700R4. I got mine from JB Conversions. They have a couple different lengths for different adapters, but they were familiar with this setup and got me the right one.

Ok, is the dana300 shaft a female shaft that slides on to the 700r4 shaft? I've never seen a dana300 out of a vehicle. The adapter that came off of the original np233 (Push Button 4wd) is only a 5 bolt pattern I've never seen one of those either, until now. Is there not enough material on the 208 adapter to re-drill the 6th hole?

I'll check out jb conversions I can pick up a 208 adapter for like $25

Thanks guys for the help.

Chad
