Ok, is the dana300 shaft a female shaft that slides on to the 700r4 shaft? I've never seen a dana300 out of a vehicle. The adapter that came off of the original np233 (Push Button 4wd) is only a 5 bolt pattern I've never seen one of those either, until now. Is there not enough material on the 208 adapter to re-drill the 6th hole?

I'll check out jb conversions I can pick up a 208 adapter for like $25

The 6th hole on the adapter is just a bit off, and I've never heard of anyone having any issues just running 5. I actually got my adapter from JB conversions as well as the input shaft. The guy I spoke to was familair with the 208 adapter. Of course he told me how their adapter was better, but in the end, he had some 208 adapters, and he threw one in that was inspected and media blasted for $20

I did swap to a sealed bearing on the output shaft since there is no seal between the trans and t-case. The sealed bearing keeps the fluids from mingling. I'll find the bearing part #. Here is my install thread

Here you can see the new input shaft with sealed bearing vs stock

What trans are you using?

Got a little done this weekend. Frame rails are finally done. Motor is in (permanently I hope). And I started on the wiring. I think I'll have to mount the ecu in the engine compartment cause the harness is not long enough to get it in glove box where I originally intended. I just need to find a suitable water proof container to keep it dry.

Update time! I've got to do a little on the Trooper between the two moths of continuous rain, Fire Department training/studying, and honey-do's it hasn't been as much as i'd like.

Since the last update I got everything wired up, some temporary, some permanent. I bought a '87 corvette radiator for it which should be here by next week. Bought new hoses, belt and o2 sensor as well as a couple other items. I got my power GM pwr steering pump adapted to the isuzu box....oh and I started it to night. I was really surprized, it fired up in about 5 seconds of cranking. I got really excited. I shot some video but I don't have a DV cable for the computer so that will have to wait. I'll get some pics of the pwr steering pump tomorrow and make some useful notes on proper wiring for those of you that are planning one of these swaps.

I got my radiator in the mail yesterday as well as a firewire cablefor my camcorder so I got a little clip just for some of you sceptics out there. I still haven't gotten any pics of the p.s. pump lines but I've started it a couple of times for a 30-45 second period and it hasn't leaked yet, but it is also not under a load yet.

I am back and forth on wether or not I want to go full width on my axles. The only thing that is keeping me from it is the extra money it will cost to upgrade another axle to what I have now, 4.56's and disk brakes. I've even put some numbers to it as far as cost and If I put a used detroit in dana60 with gears and disk brakes I'm about $200 more than if I keep the 12 bolt and drop in a ARB. Plus a bonus is I don't have to cut my axles down with a full size axle. Is it really worth it for 35's and a front dana44? Oh and I'll have to buy new wheels too and convert the front to 8 lug.

Sounds and looks nice <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

As far as the axles go, I went full width from the start, and haven't regretted it. Since you have to get new wheels, you can get some with a lot of backspacing to keep the overall width down. Hummer rims are nice if you can find them.

I put an ARB in my rear D44 before I went SAS. I wish I had done a lockrite or Detroit.

Are you sure you wont want to go bigger than 35's?

Are you planning to go SUA in the front?

It gonna be a soa. I'm gonna run some pretty flat springs up front so I can keep the lift to a minimum. I don't want to sacrifice the articulation lost by a sua. 35's is it for this stage of the truck. Maybe some day I will upgrade to a d60/14bolt and run some 38's or 39's but right now it's not in the budget. At the very most I will go with a 36" Iroc.

Got some more done. P.S. pump uses the GM factory high pressure line and the Isuzu factory low pressure line. The high pressure side on the isuzu box is metric and the GM line is a standard 3/8" I cut off the u-shaped bend on the GM line and cut off the nut from the isuzu h.p. line and slid it over the GM line. It is slightly bigger but not by much. I then re-flared the GM line to the same size the isuzu line was. When threading in the line feels really loose but as soon as you snug it up everything tightens nicely. It turned out very clean. As long as it doesn't leak under a heavy load I'll be very happy.

The radiator took a lot more cutting than I imagined but I think it turned out pretty good. I still have to make the bottom craddle and top plate but this is how it will sit.

Body Damage is Cool
Looks like fun. I wish I would have gone full width on mine especially when I am on side hills.
