Getting the Wheeling Fever
alright so i went out with my buds, they've got some lifted trucks and i hated to go around the deep holes. i talked to my samurai freind a town away and he says go spring over. dont get the lift "like i did" i want to do the wrap around spring pads but what else do i need and where should i get it. the spoa lift from rocky-road is too much. i was thinkin somewhere around $200 bucks without tires. anyone have any suggestions?

*disclaimer* This is not meant to sound harsh or demeaning, just honest experiance talking.

You won't be able to do a proper SPOA for only $200. Many say you can, but that is if you have fabrication skills, tools and a source of free parts.
You need the following (quick list, I may forget something):

spring perches
shims for front axle (depending on height of perches)
Shocks
Shock mounts (at least lowers)
longer brake lines (or extensions - almost the same price)
driveline spacers or new drive shafts
High Steer Kit (bending your tie rod wil get you through approx 2 obstacles, and z-links will amplify bumpsteer)

Going without 1 or 2 of the listed items above may still get you down the road, but I wouldn't try any serious trails.

A Samurai is an inexpensive rig, but some people don't seem to understand that going cheap or 'rigging up' suspension or steering parts will get you or your spotter hurt very quickly.

where is the best place to get this stuff. i want mostly to bolt on instead of weld. im going with the rocky road wraparound perches so i only have to weld to the old perch.

Other than the perches, the only other welding required is for the lower shock mounts. many vendors have different level kits that will work for you, including Rocky Road where you would get those spring perches.
Or try:
www.spidertrax.com
www.trailtough.com
www.petroworks.com
www.rock4xfabrication.com
www.lowrangeoffroad.com

Just to name a few.

alrite dude what i did i got a 86 sammi ... if u kno how to stick weld ure in good luck... trailer spring perches from tractor supply. weld them on in note of ure driveshaft angles...!!!! drop the front end (note i have no shocks ) weld on the spring pads ... do the rear the same .. but note u will have to get extended brake lines ( they run bout 25 dollars apeice). or grind the plates... i did grind the plates but be carefull i had the grinder kik out on me and damn neer cut thru the rear brake lines... ... but u will have to fabricate a z-link (like i did) or order one... ordering off ebay is like 120 home made is a little cut and weld if you can fabricate pretty well.. i used 1 inch square tubing and welded gussets in it ... but yeah it is cheap and i havent had anything fall apart yet .. this spring over shalll give u about 4.5 / 5 inches lift ..i curently am runnin 31x10.50 on 12 wide wheels.... and they clear fine.... good luck buddy be safe and have fun...!!!!!!!

I use swift front brake lines on the front end, and old toyota van rears for the rear.

I put the Breeze industries 5.5" spring over in mine with weld on shock mounts and drive shaft spacers. My steering is fabricated as I use tracker power steering with hi steer and hiem joints.

I also found shocks that are 5" longer than stock off of other cars and trucks. Can't remember from what right now but they are cheap and avalible.

Hope this helps.
