Gents,

Thought I would share my dead simple balancer wrench for holding the crank when torqueing the crank bolt on the 3VZE (works with the 5ZFE also).

Pic of wrench below, just a 1/4" thick chunk of 6061-T6 aluminum that I got at a salvage yard. It measure 5 1/2" wide by 21 3/4" long, but those dimenions are pretty arbitrary. You could get away with a 5" wide plate and something like 18" long.

The big hole is to clear the four ears on the balancer that align the V belt pulley. It is 2 1/2" diameter, used a hole saw. The four bolt holes are 3/8" diameter. The bolt circle diameter for the pattern is 82 mm, as measured from the V-belt pulley. The hole pattern is 15 1/4" from the right end.

As you can see in this pic, it just rests on the power steering pump of my '89 Runner. Very solid, Torqued it to 185 ft-lbs. It also works in reverse for removal on the passenger side frame rail. Worked perfect and it only cost me $6.25 for the bar and a short amount of time on the drill press. Oh, and $3.00 at home depot for 4x M8 x 20 mm bolts to bolt the thing in. The stock bolts are a bit too short for good thread engagement.

And, a pic of the motor, just because I thought it was pretty when I put it in.
