Need a Spot
So,DID I READ THIS PROPERLY? Is Delvac 15-40,Delo 15-40,or Rotella 15-40 definately the preferred motor oils now for higher mileage 22re's?
(or,20w50 of the same brands)
My only real question regards the viscosity of this 15 weight oil...is it too thick for the 22re?Or is this actually better because of quicker oil pressure buildup which helps the t-chain tensioner, etc?
Thanks again for the elucidation...and sorry for what seems like a reposted topic...

I've run the 15W40 oil in my '85, seems to work fine for me. Does not get terribly cold where I live, so don't notice the thicker oil viscosity.

I'm also a little confused, I live in Toronto where it's in the 80-90f range in the summer so 15w40 sounds feasable but what about in the winter when its 0-20f on a regular basis and below 0 for a few days here and there. Any thoughts..... Hey Kewlynx your next to the Yukon, whats your take on cold weather oil.

You shouldn't really use diesel oil in conventional gasoline engines. It has solvents and detergents in it that wash out all the carbon and gunk that resides in diesel engines. Thats what I've been led to believe anyways <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

Body Damage is Cool
it's perfectly fine to run in a gasoline engine as long as its API rating has a certification for "S*"(spark ignition, like SJ, SL etc) engines.

i ran 15w40 in my truck, however it was in the winter and made the oil pump whine for a few seconds on startup in 20- weather.
