Which has proven to be best? I hear POR-15 takes multiple applications of different solutions like UV inhibitors,etc.-but i do hear it is the best if done properly especially for non-UV exposed areas like frames,etc.....Of course everyone has heard of Rustoleum,...but what about Hammerite from the UK? I hear this stuff is the equal or better of POR-15 without the multiple processes....What are all your opinions of these rust-sealing/covering paints? thanks again all

I do not know which is better but you may also want to check out Eastwood. They have a lot of different products.

I have used POR-15 and it is good for frames, etc. I have also used Hammerite, in particular the quart cans, with a small foam roller and foam brushes. I would have to say I much prefer Hammerite. It is infinitely less picky about preparation, holds up to UV, adheres to old undercoats with little prep, and rolls on looking nicer than sprayed POR.

In case I've been less than clear, I love the stuff! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/notooth.gif" alt="" />

i have a few old cars and trucks,,,i used por 15 on a 91 toyota and it lasted about 8 months,,i used the eastwood on all my other cars and it holds up great,,,i did the inside of a truck on my 67 nova with the eastwood and the car sat outside with no truck lid on it for 2 years and it still looks like it was done yesterday,,,,,,i personally think por 15 is a waste of money and way over rated

I've had good luck with POR-15 on my truck and many of the sliders I paint. If applied properly, it works great, but as mentioned above, it is very sensitive to proper prep and application.

Where did you get the Hammerite in this county?

A&A Tradin' Post (an Ace Hardware store) on South Broadway in Littleton... Spray, and quarts and gallons (they were out of stock on quarts and gallons yesterday though, more in the warehouse).
